POSITION: The Department of Animal Science, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M
University invites applications for a full-time Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) position with a 9-
month academic appointment. The anticipated start date for this opportunity is August 1, 2025. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Assistant Professor of Practice with an emphasis in equine science
depending on qualifications. The breakdown of effort for this position is 100% teaching.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to provide
undergraduate animal science instruction related to equine science. They will need to develop a teaching
program that includes but is not limited to, laboratory-based courses in equine handling and management. The successful candidate will have access to livestock facilities associated with the Department of Animal Science.

REQUIREMENTS: An M.S. or a B.S. in Animal Science or a related field emphasizing equine science and
the ability to teach equine handling, safety, and management are required. The candidate must have substantial
professional credentials or experience. Evidence of outstanding equine handling skills and industry engagement are required as having an extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting.
Preferred experience includes but is not limited to young horse development, equine behavior and problem
solving, teaching ground handling and colt starting, Western and/or English riding instructional skills at various levels, herd management, using horses in a ranching environment, and preparing young horses for sale or have significant experience at the college/school level in the field or a related field.
